MINISTER APPLAUDS COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION BOARD

The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to sustaining the achievements recorded in the health sector as well as the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, since healthcare is one of the main campaign promises of its government, especially for the rural dwellers.

The Minister of State for Health, Hon. Joseph Ekumankama made this declaration recently in his office when members of the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria [CHPRBN] led by its Chairman, Sule Toma, paid him a visit to officially submit their report on the just concluded National Report on Operation show your Certificate and Licenses conducted by the Board.

The Minister while receiving the report on behalf of the Ministry commended the giant stride and purposeful effort embarked upon by the Board in ensuring that Community Health Practitioners are duly registered to avoid quackery which has yielded good results. He said he would ensure the implementation of the report for the good and benefit of all Nigerians. He charged members of the Board to work in synergy with other medical professionals for the benefit of all and sundry.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Community Health Practitioner Registration Board of Nigeria, Sule Toma expressed profound gratitude for the support received from the Minister and the Ministry of Health, which is seen as the foundation for promoting and ensuring a virile and responsive community Health Practice in Nigeria.

He made specific recommendations such as a nominal roll of Community Health Practitioners to the Board for further action and planning purposes; verification exercises are conducted periodically to ensure sanity in community health practice nationwide; to prevent quackery and protect the health of the citizen of the country.

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board was formed on 24th November 1992 with the aim of determining the standard of knowledge and skills obtained by members of the profession and conducting examinations in the profession and awarding certificates to the successful candidates.
