FMC BIRNIN-KUDU GETS NEW MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The Federal Government has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Adamu Atterwahmie as the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State for a term of four (4) years with effect from 23rd November, 2021.
The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora conveyed the confirmation of Dr. Adamu Atterwahmie, which was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, (GCFR) on Tuesday 21st December, 2021 at the Federal Ministry of Health Headquarters in Abuja.
In conveying the approval of the appointment to Dr. Atterwahmie, the Minister charged him to work hard to ensure that the hospital continues to provide quality health care and endeavor to improve on the present achievements and leave his mark of progress on the Institution.”
Dr. Mamora disclosed that he was aware of the enormous challenges at the Centre, but is pleased with the show of willingness and readiness by Dr. Atterwahmie to address the challenges ahead which shows what leadership is made of. "A leader is one who seeks to solve problems rather than finding excuses." the Minister stated.
He advised the newly appointed MD on critical areas that he needs to focus on, first being his relationship with the host community, the Governor of the State who is also the chief landlord, secondly his relationship with the Board and Management of the hospital headed by him, as well as his colleagues. "There is need to work in unity of purpose, harmony and cordiality with all stakeholders to achieve meaningful progress at the Institution." He further urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him by his appointment, and not to neglect his health, but remember to balance his work and family life.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Mahmuda Mamman while congratulating Dr. Atterwahmie revealed that the incoming MD had passed through a process where he emerged the successful candidate. "You are going to a new terrain but with experience, we pray for you to get wisdom to stir the affairs of that hospital, you should know that they are a lot of challenges ahead but with your experience we are hopeful that you are going to surmount them." He reaffirmed that the Ministry will give the appointee the necessary guidance and support and will always be available, while wishing him a successful tenure.
In response, Dr. Adamu Atterwahmie expressed appreciation to Mr. President and the Ministry for finding him worthy of this appointment and pledged to work together with the support of the Ministry and his Board of Management to do whatever is possible and necessary within the limit of the law in changing the narrative of the Hospital.
